An HBCU band is set to headline the pregame show for Super Bowl LIX.

According to Black Enterprise, Southern University's acclaimed Human Jukebox band will perform during the Super Bowl's pregame show on Sunday (February 9). Kendric Taylor, the Baton Rouge HBCU's band director, announced the performance during Tuesday's (February 4) episode of "The Jennifer Hudson Show."

“The history of this band goes on for many years. This band has been on many platforms — the Super Bowl seven times, three presidential inauguration parades,” Taylor said. “This is something that nobody knows. We’re going to tell it here on air — we’re going to be at the Super Bowl — headlining. The Southern University Human Jukebox — the pregame.”

“Yall better work, oh my goodness,” Hudson responded.

The Human Jukebox band, made up of roughly 300 students, is no stranger to putting on a big show. Band members recently competed in the inaugural West Coast HBCU Battle of the Bands, which featured other schools including Alabama A&M, Hampton, and North Carolina A&T University. The band was also invited to perform at the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California earlier this year.

The marching band's history of blending traditional songs with contemporary music is sure to be on full display during this year's Super Bowl featuring the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.
